I made
my way to Karawang Regency over a weeked for a staycation. Now, before you make
any preconceive assumption of ‘where and
what so hip about Karawang?’ Let me try to convince you that it might be a
good mini getaway from the Jakarta. It is on the outskirt of the metropolitan
city and though it is known more to its industrial activities (factories), I
believe in few short years to come it will be the next It destination.
Karawang
is being developed under two big developers; Agung Podomoro and Summarecon
group and knowing by reputation of both groups, Karawang is in good hands. The
hearsay is that there will be upcoming shopping malls in development and
airport to be established which a shoo in for surge of people coming to this
area in the future.

welcome to Resinda |
The hotel
I was staying, ‘ Resinda Hotel’ is run
by the well-known Padma group. Which you might not already know, Padma group
already has 3 five stars resorts in Bandung, Legian and Ubud Bali (click the
link to read my review on Padma Resort in Ubud, Bali). A prestigious mall in
the name of ‘Resinda Park Mall’ is on its completion (just recently opened on March of 2017)
and it is linked by a bridge that directly brings guest to the mall.
Resinda Hotel has 256 rooms in total with five different
types from Deluxe, Signature Deluxe, Grand Deluxe, Premier Suite, and Executive
Suite with price range from IDR 750K to IDR 2000K. I had the luxury to experience
their premier suite which has a spacious living area, two big screens flat TV,
king size bed, and a big bathroom that comes with a bathtub and a separate shower
in the size of 45 sqm on the highest floor the hotel has, the 22nd
floor.

The room was cozy, clean and smells new, floor to ceiling
window that brings plenty of sunlight in with sa very high point of view of the
city. The room was equipped with the sleek Dolce Gusto machine to pamper your
every caffeine need. Not to forget the very important fast working wifi, I feel
home or more to a luxurious hotel.

At the moment, there are more Japanese expats staying at the
hotel since I noticed that the factories around Karawang are Japanese run
factories. As I have observed, being that it has more Japanese expats staying,
the hotel caters more to their need, from a Sento Japanese Bath and Japanese
buffet restaurant, which is exquisite. Not forgetting other guest, the hotel
provide high end facilities; fitness centre, lagoon swimming pool, a green park
and sauna.

I believe that once the mall is open, a different crowd will
come to visit this area with its strategic location, it is close to other
leisure family activities such as Taruma Leisure Waterpark and Wonderland
Adventure Park, Sedana Gold or Lotus Golf which are located within minutes by
car. Resinda offers complimentary transportation such as shuttles to nearby
factories and airport transfer shuttle.
The restaurants offer buffet with affordable price or a la
carte if you are not in the mood for food binging. The restaurants are
consisted of Tenkai Japanese, the Oryza restaurant and the Hai Wang Chinese
Delight. Having three restaurants inside with different specialties, I was able
to try of all the restaurants.

cozy and clean seating area |
With seating capacity up to 115 people with a couple of
private rooms, this authentic Japanese cuisine is prepared by chef Kenji from
his live sushi bar, bento box, Japanese course meals and sushi buffet during
the weekend. It is decorated with mainly wooden themed design with traditional
Japanese touch carvings that delivers the idea of semi traditional Japanese
with a touch of contemporary design. The restaurant is spacious and has a nice
view of the lagoon pool.
In term of menu selection, it has a range of Japanese dishes
such as sushi roll, katsu, soba, miso soup, etc. I personally love the spicy
tuna and salmon sushi rolls as it was fresh and the special sauce made it more
delicious. The one thing that was
lacking was the bland chicken teriyaki roll, I would prefer it to have more
teriyaki sauce inside to elevate the flavor though I have to say that the
chicken was cooked nicely and the vegetables were fresh.
The Oryza
From breakfast, I had a great time at the Oryza, from the
international buffet breakfast, the evening cocktail-mocktail time to the
Indonesian buffet dinner. The restaurant was slightly bigger than Tenkai with
approx 150 people seating capacity. It is designed with vibrant colors in the
style of contemporary design. I
enjoyed my international breakfast such as sausage, eggs, hash brown, bacon,
pastries, waffles, and delicious selections of Indonesian breakfast such as fried
rice, coconut rice, and Indonesian porridge. The range of selections and the
high quality food deserves all kind of praise.
I decided to take a dip in the pool in the evening while
enjoying the fresh breeze with a couple of mocktail drinks. The kiwi mocktail
and the coconut mocktail were my choice of drinks and they were at the right
amount of sweet and fresh as it could be.

Just in time for dinner back at the Oryza, their dinner
menus are unique and delightful. I loved the tempura Gado- gado that was served
with peanut sauce, It was creative in presentation and delicious at the same
time. A good solution for people who do not like vegetable, having the
vegetables deep fried with the tempura skin might actually be the answer.
My second favourite dish was the Ayam garang Asam (
leaf-wrapped chicken in coconut and milk sauce). This Garang Asam flavor was
rich in flavor; cooking the chicken in leaf is totally a genius idea to make
the chicken tender and the sauce was thoroughly drenched through the meat. I was
very surprised that I myself finished four of them!
Oryza restaurant deserved a big applause for serving such
beautiful dishes and I personally am thankful to experience such a wonderful meal
here at Oryza.
Hai Wang Chinese
Restaurant
the dining area |
My staycation ends with this lunchtime at Hai Wang Chinese
Restaurant, which serves a dim sum buffet brunch during Sunday with a price of
IDR 135k nett per pax and I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of every food
served in Hai Wang, it was almost to perfection. I could confidently state that
the Dim Sum could easily compete with any Dim Sum place in Jakarta.
I would recommend the pineapple fried rice, the steamed shiu
mai , and the chicken bbq bao. Those three are my top three.
Come to the dessert and it was just delectable. If you are
into non-Halal food do try their crispy pork, not just because it is crispy but
It is heavenly! Just believe me.
I had a wonderful experience staying at the hotel, the
service was impeccable and it is done with outmost passion and professionalism.
By the rate it is going, Resinda Hotel seems to sniff the future of Karawang
Regency area and made its early start. Good move.
